RISK-BASED APPROACH WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

Duration: 1 Day

Introduction:

All organisations use processes (a set of interrelated or interacting activities) to achieve their objectives. Processes are applicable to any organisation and any management system regardless of the type, size, or complexity of the organisation. As one of the seven key elements of the ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System principles, the process approach assists in ensuring that the interrelated processes are suitably integrated to meet objectives and outputs, and that detailed planning and controls can be defined and implemented.

A risk-based strategy is required to ensure that all risks that might have an impact on the interrelated processes or their outputs are considered. This is achieved through applying Risk Based Thinking, not only at the start of any process but throughout and on a continuous basis. It assists in defining the risks, the extent of controls and the necessary management thereof.

This Workshop will provide not only an understanding of the Risk-Based Thinking concept but also the practical implementation which is found in many aviation-related activities/processes like Safety Management Systems (SMS), Management of Change (MOC), Safety Case Studies, Gap Analysis and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). The Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) tool, which operates as a cycle of continual improvement, also implements Risk-Based Thinking at each stage. This Workshop is live and interactive, with a facilitator leading the proceedings.
