eVENT-S™ Surge
The eVENT-S Round-up of Aircraft Occurrences in September & October 2025
As 2025 rushes to a close, it seems that as we progress to the end of another year, Aircraft accidents and incidents are also escalating. The recorded data from L&A’s eVENT-S shows us that there was a significant increase in events from September to October.
2 – 14 Ground contact / and collisions
The largest category in both months is Surface Operations (Landing, Takeoff, and Taxiing). In September, we noted only 2 Ground collisions. October 2025 saw an increase of 14 incidents, which included 9 Ground Collisions, 3 Ground Equipment Collisions, and 2 Installation Collisions. This suggests a significant increase in accidents during taxiing, pushback, and while stationary at the gate/apron in October.
10-19 Surface Operations
(Runway Excursion, Tyre Failure, Landing Gear, etc.) In September, events recorded 10 incidents, primarily Runway Excursions. October saw this figure increase to 19 incidents, with a broader range including 8 Runway Excursions, 3 Tyre Failures, 3 Landing Gear Failures, and 2 Tail Strikes.
8-13 Engine/Powerplant Issues
The September data recorded 8 engine-related incidents (4 Engine Failures, 3 Problems, 1 Malfunction). In October, engine-related incidents increased to 13 incidents, including 7 reported Engine Failures.
3-14 Cockpit/System/Pressure Issues
September had only 3 incidents relating to Fumes, Smoke, Loss of Pressure. The October data recorded 14 incidents, with a notable frequency of 6 events which resulted in a ‘Cracked Windshield’, along with 4 Smoke/Fumes events and 3 Loss of Cabin Pressure events.
3-8 Bird strikes
From September to October, we saw an 80% increase in bird strike events.
The roadmap to Continuous Improvement
In summary, Runway Excursion, Tyre Failure, and Landing Gear (Surface Operations) were the most prevalent overall categories in both months. October experienced a substantial increase in Ground Contact/Collision and Cockpit/System/Pressure Issues compared to September. Every analysed category saw an increase in the number of reported events from September to October. Recorded and analysed aircraft event data remains the foundation of sustainable Risk Management as it serves as a roadmap in the journey of continuous Improvement within any organisation,

Is this dramatic shift an indication of seasonal operational factors (e.g., weather/visibility/traffic flow changes), or does it suggest an emerging, more systemic challenge in ramp safety and crew procedure adherence that warrants immediate attention?
