The Litson and Associates Aerospace Academy for Safety & Quality is proud to present a series of 1-day workshops designed to enhance the critical thinking skillset of Aviation Professionals.

A certificate of completion is presented to each delegate upon successful completion of each training course. A special L&A Critical Thinking Safety Series certificate will also be presented to delegates who complete each of the four modules in 2025. Root Cause Analysis

Duration: 1 day workshop

The L&A Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Workshop was developed from demand within the aviation industry and the frequent sub-standard implementation of the RCA process witnessed by L&A advisors during our Safety Reviews/Audits on behalf of the Resources and Oil & Gas industries.

The Management of Change (MOC) is a critical component in maintaining the safety, efficiency, and reliability of aviation operations.The  MOC workshop will provide participants with insight and an understanding of the processes and best practices for effectively managing changes within an organisation

Risk Based Approach

Duration: 1 day workshop 

This Workshop will provide an understanding of the Risk-Based Thinking concept but also the practical implementation which is found in many aviation-related activities/processes like Safety Management Systems (SMS), Management of Change (MOC), Safety Case Studies, Gap Analysis and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

Continuous Improvement

Duration: 1 day workshop

Continuous Improvement in aviation represents more than mere adherence to regulatory minimums; it embodies an organisational commitment to relentlessly enhance safety, operational efficiency, and overall performance. This concept is characterised as an ongoing, systematic process involving the identification and rectification of deficiencies, the
refinement of existing methods, and the proactive integration of new knowledge, advanced technologies, and industry best practices. Such a proactive stance is not merely aspiration; it is an absolute necessity in an industry where even minor deviations from established procedures can lead to significant safety implications.

Safety Management System including RPAS 5 days

L&A recommends an SMS model consisting of four components consisting of twelve elements. In this course, each element is discussed in detail to ensure a full understanding. The ideal candidates for this SMS course are Aviation Safety Officers and Aviation Safety Managers (ASO/M)

Quality Management System & Auditing 5-days

The objective of the QMS course is to equip the delegate to effectively implement and maintain a Quality Management System. QA principles learnt are consolidated and the application of the fundamental principles of conducting audits, both internally and externally are developed through practical assignments.

Lead Auditor
3-days

Delegates will encounter recognised standards such as the IOGP Aircraft Management Guidelines and the Flight Safety Foundation Basic Aviation Risk Standards (BARS) by using practical aviation case studies to illustrate how to lead an audit team. Attendees will gain in-depth insight into the roles and responsibilities of the Lead Auditor.

The L&A Occurrence Investigation training focuses on developing the following skills. To define the nature of the occurrence, through the process of Data/information gathering and analysis. As well as, learning to make conclusive findings, recommendations and determining the Root Cause.

This course is tailored as a refresher follow-up on the L&A full 5-day online Safety Management System training course. This course can be presented in a corporate inhouse training format.

Refresher - Quality Management System 2 days

This course is tailored as a refresher follow-up to the L&A full 5-day QMSA course. Although it is currently not a regulatory requirement to attend QMS refresher training, it is of great value to operations if personnel have an understanding of Quality Management Systems, as it fosters a culture of accountability and excellence.

Crew Resource Management - CRM
Initial and Advanced

This Crew Resource Management Initial (CRM) training programme is formulated to comply with the requirements as specified by the expectations of ICAO as well as the local Regulator. The programme content is formulated by combining the best principles of generation 3, 4 and 5 CRM in order to provide the participants with consolidation information, but also involves the latest developments in the subject matter

Emergency Response Planning - ERP 1 day

is an essential and critical element of the aviation organisation’s reactive processes. The objective is to identify the emergency, analyse the situation, anticipate the secondary impacts and developments and thus act upon these conditions. In doing so, prevent the level of the emergency from escalating, and provide immediate response and support to contain the existing situation within a minimum loss limits.

Safety Emergency Procedures Training (SEPT) 1 day

SEPT is an essential and critical element of the aviation organisation’s reactive processes, which has its objective to ensure aircrew are equipped with the necessary skills to handle any emergency or unusual situation that can occur onboard their aircraft and that they are informed of any new regulations, procedures and equipment.
